Tears On The Dancefloor is an interactive audiovisual installation and dance party that took place in the dark but also kept spectators in the dark. Unbeknownst to the audiance, the seven minute rhapsody soundtracking this project was composed from sad data.

Common viral media that pollute internet landscapes daily are pranks, inconvenciences, or misinformation. By converting quantitative data to qualitative fun, I coded this project in MAX/MSP to simulate joy with a tinge of dread.

The piece demonstrated two audiovisual tools made from laser pointers. The green laser pointer drew a simulated particle effect and queued the sound sample while the red laser pointer controlled frequencies like a theremin instrument.
