Whirlwind repurposes an old exercise bicycle into the engine for a kinetic light installation. As the crank is turned, a bank of LED fans accelerates into motion, using a persistence-of-vision effect to render looping images that appear to float in midair. The speed activation of the visuals are tied directly to the crank mechanism, making the viewer an active participant in generating the piece rather than a passive observer.
